A prominent and talented Sattriya Artist and recipient of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Award of Sangeet Natak Akademy for the year 2016, Usha Rani Baishya has received fame and accolades for her dance and choreography in assam and different parts of the country. She is an empanelled artist of Indian Council for Cultural relations (ICCR) in solo category in sattriya dance and a B grade artist of Doordarshan Kendra Guwahati.

Born and brought up in a cultural family Usha Rani Baishya associated with the 550 years old  graceful dance form of assam for three decades learning, performing and studying different aspects of the dance form. At a tender age of four she started learning Sattriya dance under eminent Guru Ramkrishna Talukder. She is Nritya Visharad in Sattriya dance and Kathak Dance. She is also MA in Assamese Literarture from Gauhati University. She received “Senior Scholarship” from Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Govt. of India in the year 2003-05.

Usha Rani Baishya is founder and Principal in Kirtan Kala Kendra, a school of Sattriya dance which is established in 1998. The main objective of the society is to promote, propagate and aware the rich cultural heritage of Assam worldwide. She is a mentor for young learners of the dance form, embarking them on a classical dance career. She is also involve as Resource Person for sattriya dance in Assam Sattra Mahasabha and cultural Secretary of Sati Radhika Mahila Tirtha, a wing of Assam Sattra Mahasabha. Her years of experience, dedication, refinement and maturity in performance make her own position in the world of sattriya dance.
